Eligibility Criteria for ADB JSP Scholarship
To be eligible for ADB-JSP, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
- ADB borrowers must be nationals of member countries and eligible for Japanese ODA scholarships.
- Should not hold dual citizenship.
- Enroll in an approved master’s program at a designated institution.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
- Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience after graduation.
- Master English, both spoken and written.
- Be under 35 years of age at the time of application (exceptions may be granted with Japan’s approval).
- Stay well.
- Commit to return to your home country after graduation and work there for at least 2 years.
- Cannot be an ADB staff member, consultant, or immediate family member.
- Must not be living or working outside your country of origin.
- Must not be enrolled in another graduate program at the time of application.
Application process
To apply for the ADB-JSP Scholarship, follow these steps:
Request information:
Contact the partner institution you wish to study in and request detailed information about the scholarship and application form.
Complete the documentation:
Fill out all required forms, including the ADB-JSP information sheet, making sure everything is correct and complete.
Submit Application:
Submit your completed application form and all supporting documents to the partner institution within the given time frame.
Application Evaluation:
The partner institution will evaluate your application based on academic qualifications, work experience and other criteria.
Submission of shortlist to ADB:
After reviewing the applications, the institution will send a shortlist of eligible candidates to ADB for further review.
ADB Review:
ADB will review the shortlisted candidates to ensure that they meet all the eligibility requirements.
Recommendation:
ADB will recommend potential scholars to the Japanese Executive Director for final approval.
Scholar Selection:
After approval, ADB will formally select the scholars and notify the partner institution.
